Post-college was one of the most frustrating times of my life. Earning a degree and still reporting to the mall for work was a test for my self-esteem. Enjoy my suffering!
Part 1: Now what?
Don’t take this the wrong way, but, I never had any problems navigating my way through school. I was the goody-two-shoes in elementary school who earned gold stars and certificates of merit for being a good speller and learning my times tables. In middle school, I enjoyed the reading assignments and coasted through math classes. When I got to high school, I worked hard in my honors English and American History courses and took the necessary (not advanced) math and science classes and graduated with honors. College was not too difficult either: When I went away to school, due to not having much of a social life aside from time spent in the library, gym, or with my fella, I earned a spot on the Dean’s List. When I transferred schools and commuted, I was able to maintain a full course load while working a full-time job. I found that, by showing up and putting forth a good portion of effort, I did just fine. I imagined that when I got out of school, my high marks and proven work ethic would make it very easy for me to land that first “real” post-college job.
